Sri Lanka Insurance has tied up with one of America’s leading global emergency service companies, Assist America, to launch another ‘first’.
During yesterday’s launch, Deepthi Lokuarachchi, CEO of Sri Lanka Insurance, described the new and innovative product as a value addition to its Motor Plus policy which already enjoyed top position in the market.
"We provide unmatched services in a competitive market and have remained number one," the CEO said.
"What’s unique in the Motor Plus Emergency Assistance are the services, such as, facilitating emergency medical consultations with doctors, providing emergency medical evacuations both here and overseas, assisting in hospital admissions and maintenance of regular communication with the hospital on the progress of the customer and disseminating the information to his or her family members.
The new service is offered to policy holders travelling a distance of over 100 kilometres away from their permanent residence for a maximum period of 90 days, which includes overseas travel as well," he said. These additional service would be provided just at a nominal annual fee, he added.
According to the CEO, the services provided in this new programme also included a range of other advantages, such as, medical consultation , evaluation, referrals, hospital admission assistance, medical monitoring and prescription assistance , compassionate visit care of minor children, interpreter and legal assistance, lost baggage and document assistance,pre - trip information service and return of mortal remains in case of unfortunate incidents.
"What the policy holder had to do in an emergency is simply dial the toll free number given to him or her by the company from wherever you are and the required assistance would come forth in no time," he said.
Ron Estrella, General Manager, South East Asia of Assist America said; "What costs in
emergencies are unpredictable and they are unbudgetable whether you are at home or abroad and being armed with this optional extra to the Motor Plus policy holders would be at a distinct advantage, he said adding that the company would meet all evacuation costs to all policy holders.
‘Imagine the predicament one would be in, being stranded somewhere in an emergency where he or she would need to pay US$ 50,000 to get over the situation and this is where we come to his her rescue, Estrella said.
