The former LTTE ‘Colonel’ made the appeal while addressing those who had gathered at the ceremonial opening of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Presidential campaign office on Trincomalee road at Thandananvely, Batticaloa on Thursday.
"If we sit with the Opposition just to shout out and clamour for our rights until we became hoarse, we cannot gain anything. But by accepting a ministerial portfolio from the ruling President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s government
one could win one’s rights. Look at how the Muslim community remains with the ruling party and gain many benefits for their people", he said.
Former Mayor of the Batticaloa Municipal Council (MC) and Secretary of the main Presidential campaign Batticaloa district office Mrs. Sivageetha Prabagaran presided over the meeting. SLFP Batticaloa Organiser Arun Thambimuttu and Batticaloa District Organiser Rajan Myilvaganam were also present at the event.
