Illegal hotels by brothers,uncles,sons of previous rulers

It has now come to light that authorities in the previous regime had misused state and private land in the eastern province, said lands minister M.K.D.S. Gunawardena.

The entire country had suffered due to bad governance by them who had used the armed forces, police and the CDF to amass money. There were hotels by their brothers, uncles and sons, he told the Trincomalee district development committee meeting yesterday (23).

Their activities had also destroyed the natural environment in the area, where only the concrete buildings and the barbed wire remain now.

Minister Karu Jayasuriya also attended the meeting, BBC Sandeshaya reports.
