Inquiry into land given to Arjuna!

An inquiry is to be carried out to find out as to what had happened to the land allotted to build a hostel for outstation cricketers, say Sri Lanka Cricket sources.

The land, at Gampaha, was given by president Chandrika Kumaratunga after Sri Lanka won the Wills World Cup in 1996.

The recipient of the land is the captain of the winning team, Arjuna Ranatunga, now the ports minister.

There is talk that money had also been collected to build the hostel, with the involvement of a businessman of Kelaniya.

Commenting on this, SLC president, deputy speaker of parliament, Thilanga Sumathipala has told the media that he had been raising this matter for four years now.

He said he had evidence to show that Arjuna had pocketed the money collected by selling caps.
