The board released a schedule of an island-wide three-hour power cut last afternoon, but suspended it with few minutes.
Power and Renewable Energy Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera said that the suspension was announced following the main minor hydro power plant systems receiving adequate rainfall to become active,
The Deputy Minister also said that substantial rainfall had occurred in areas where the hydro power plants are situated.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe gave a stern warning to CEB officials to refrain from taking decisions, without official approval.
The Prime Minister emphasized that especially when a ministry recommendation was not in place, the CEB could not take such arbitrary decisions.
It is said that the Prime Minister has also ordered that a report be submitted to him with regard to the decision the CEB had taken yesterday for announcing a power cut.
