3 killed in a fire that broke out in an eatery at Maradan

Three persons were killed when a fire broke out at an eatery near the Elphinstone Theater in Maradana in last afternoon.

The fire continued for about one hour and 11 fire extinguishing vehicles had been called from the Colombo Fire Brigade to douse the fire.

The Colombo Fire Brigade removed three persons from the engulfing fire but they were pronounced dead when admitted to Colombo National hospital.

The restaurant was destroyed due the fire, and two motor cycles parked near the restaurant were also destroyed by the fire.

Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said the fire has erupted due to a gas leak.
