TheSpeaker of Parliament had instructed to COPE to initiate an investigation the governor of the Central Bank taking in to consideration the motion presented by MPs demanding his removal, citing irregularities committed by the governor over the issuing of bonds.
The comprehensive report will also include recommendations made to the government with regard to measures that should be taken over the issue, parliament sources say.
PM not summoned
Meanwhile, Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that although he had urged COPE to summon him to testify, the committee has not given him the opportunity to do so.
Unconfirmed reports cite that the the COPE report has already deemed the CB governor as guilty.
