Don't rush to approve 20A - Catholic Bishops

The Catholic Bishops Conference has requested the government more time to conduct a detail study in to the 20th Amendment before approving it.

This was through a communiqué issued by Chairperson of the conference Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.

The Catholic Bishops Conference has mentioned that they have aware of the reasons which led to the introduction of a new electoral system.

However, it points out that rushing in to approving the 20th Amendment may have a negative effect on the country.

Hence the communiqué says that a detailed study was necessary on the matter.
