
Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody said that the decision was taken during the political party leaders’ meeting which was held at the parliamentary complex yesteday afternoon.
He also said that the Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella consented to take up the debate on no confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on the 3rd week of next month.
UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha, Opposition Whip John Seneviratne and Sri Lanka Communist Party General Secretary D.E.W. Gunasekera also participated in the meeting.
However, Leader of MEP Dinesh Gunawardana said that he, along with MP Wasudeva Nanayakkara did not agree to the date scheduled for the debate.
He said that the date was fixed according to the wishes of the majority political party leaders.
