Remove all SLFP district leaders by President

President Maithripala Sirisena has decided to remove all SLFP district leaders who disobey the party leadership and give nominations to those who follow the Bandaranaike policies, said a SLFP minister.

Nominations will be given to young professionals in the legal, medical, accountancy, business, media, sports and arts fields who do not face accusations of corruption or fraud, he told.

The president has personally held discussions with more than 60 such persons who seek nominations from the SLFP at the upcoming general election, said the minister.

He has already decided to give nominations to Pradeep Jayawardena, a grandson of the late president J.R. Jayewardene, several top officials of ministries, university lecturers and artistes, he added.
