Sri Lanka tops the countries that voice against child labor: says PM edit post

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that it is a source of pleasure that the ILO has pointed out that Sri Lanka tops the countries that voice against child labour.

A consensus has been reached from 2010 for not deploying children below 12 years of age for labour.

Similarly deploying children between the ages of 12 and 18 in dangerous industries is illegal.

Issuing a message in view of the International Day for condemning child labour Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that it was a serious offence to deploy children in any violent undertaking that is of a level that they cannot bear.
