UPFA defeated candidates Vijith Vijayamuni Soyza, S.B. Dissanayake, Mahinda Samarasinghe, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana, Thilanga Sumathipala, Angajan Ramanadan and M.L.A. M. Hizbullah have been appointed to parliament through the national list.
Sarath Amunugama, Dilan Perera, Malith jayathilaka, Faizer Mustafa, and A.H.M. Fowzie are the others appointed to parliament through the national list.
Several others whose names were in the national list including Professor G.L. Peries, D.E.W. Gunasekera, Professor Tissa Vitharana, Tissa Attanayake, Sri Ranga, Reginald Corey, Jeevan Kumaratunga, Tiran Allas, Professor Rajiva Wijesinghe and Prabha Ganeshan have been denied national list MP slots.
In addition, the names of Piyasiri Wijenayake, Mohamad Musammil, Lesley Devendra and Gevindu Kumaratunga had been included in the UPFA national list before the election.
