Might need visas to visit North - MR

If the public grants their mandate to the United National Party led by Ranil Wickremesinghe, the UNP will comply with the demands of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and bring about an Eelam or Federal state, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa says.

Speaking in Chilaw, Mr. Rajapaksa said that if this happened, people would have to obtain visa to visit the North - East region.

If we were allowed to rule the country for two more years, we would setup a system for money to flow towards the public. But today, the development we initiated in the country has been halted with a large number of people being deprived of their jobs, Rajapaksa added.

Leaders safeguarding country

Meanwhile, the National Movement Against Terrorism (NMAT) said that an assurance has become possible as those against the country being divided are contesting the General election under the UNP ticket.

Speaking at a media conference yesterday (07), former General Secretary of the NMAT, Sunimal Jayaratne said that a host of leaders safeguarding country are in the UNP led coalition - the United National Front.

Speaking, former NMAT Vice Chairman - Tudor Perera said that they can guarantee that the UNP will not leave any room for terrorism after sweeping into power.
