Rosy, next HC to UK?

Former minister - Rosy Senanayake, who was defeated at the recent General election has been tipped to be the next Sri Lankan high commissioner to UK, reports say.

However, Mrs. Senanayake has expressed her grave concern with regard to this proposal made by prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Speaking before media, the former minister has said that she did not engage in politics with the intention of seeking positions but with the intention of serving the people, especially to resolve problems faced by women and children.

However, if it is not appreciated by the public, therein arises the question whether I should remain in politics hereafter, she added.

Noting that those who supported her backed her with much anticipation, Mrs. Senanayake says she considers it a selfish act to leave behind everything in this manner while taking up the post of high commissioner.

Therefore, she said she strongly declines the suggestion.
