The Disaster Management Center states over 18 thousand 479 persons in Galle and Mathara districts have been affected due to the prevailing disaster situation.

Meanwhile six districts have been declared as prone to landslide by the National Building Research Institute.

Accordingly, the institute stated that identified areas of Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Kalutara, Galle, Matara and Hambantota are prone to earth slips.

The met department states that the atmospheric conditions are favorable for showers or thundershowers over most parts of the island during the afternoon and night.

Thundershowers will develop at most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m.

Duty Meteorologist Nimal Bandara states that heavy rainfalls more than 100mm are also expected in certain areas.
