5 year old child dies due to the collapse of a parapet wall

During the past several days deaths of small children in sudden accidents were reported from various locations.

The death of a girl of about five years as a result of a parapet wall under construction in Maharanugegoda in Ragama falling on her was reported yesterday.

The police said that the accident had taken place as a result of the wall falling on the child while she walking with her mother close to the wall under construction had attempted to hang on to the wall.

Meanwhile two children who had gone to bathe in the Aaruloyil tank in Kayts in Jaffna last afternoon were drowned.

While these were aged between 10 and 8 years, it is said that this accident occurred when they went to bathe with another group of friends.

The children killed in the accident are two residents of Kayts.
