Test

A resumption of investigation into the murder of journalist Nimalarajan Mylvaganam is expected by his father, in the same manner the new government resumed probes into the killings of MPs Joseph Pararajasingham and Nadaraja Raviraj.

G. Mylvaganam, speaking to BBC Sandeshaya from Canada, recalled how his son was killed before his eyes 15 years ago.

He expects the Jaffna journalists association, formed by his son, to discuss a resumption of the investigation with the government, which seems to listen to reason.

If there is no response to a request by the association, Mylvaganam said he will make representations to the government himself.

He said he had belief justice would be done by the government led by president Maithripala Sirisena.

Correspondent for the BBC Sinhala and Tamil services, Nimalarajan was killed at his home on 19 October 2000.

Local and foreign human rights groups leveled the finger at the EPDP, and an EPDP member arrested on suspicion was bailed out.

The suspect is now overseas, and the case has now been halted.
