Sports assns. to take Dayasiri to courts! edit post

Sports associations are to seek redress in courts against a decision by sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara to hold elections for all sports associations before coming April, reports say.

However, elections for 28 associations are due only in May 2017.

Present and former office bearers of 10 leading sports associations have discussed this matter.

With the introduction of a new sports act by former sports minister Navin Dissanayake, elections for 28 sports associations were held before May 31, while 20 others went to courts.

Office bearers for the key sports associations for athletics, volleyball and netball have been appointed for a two year duration.
