Case filed against Basil! edit post

The Attorney General has filed a case against former economic development minister Basil Rajapaksa and former director of Divi Neguma Department R.K.A. Ranawaka.

They stand accused of criminal misuse of Rs. 29 billion belonging to the Department and six other charges.

According to the case, the two had utilized the money without approval by the treasury, in violation of the penal code and the presidential election act.

The Colombo high court is to take up the case shortly.

Rajapaksa is out on bail on a charge of irregularities in the Divi Neguma Department.
