
According to sources, he has been notified to appear at the FCID to record a statement regarding an alleged Rs 5 million grant by the SEC for Tharunyata Hetak, a youth movement headed by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son MP Namal Rajapaksa.
Dr Nalaka Godahewa assumed duties as the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission on 29th August 2012. However, he resigned from the position after Maithripala Sirisena’s victory at the presidential poll in January, 2015.
Meanwhile two individuals including a former top SEC official were arrested today over an alleged financial irregularity which had occurred at the SEC in 2013.
