Committee to inspect Embilipitiya crime scene

The National Police Commission says that officers of the committee appointed to investigate into a brawl which occurred in Embilipitiya, will inspect the crime scene on Tuesday.

One person was killed in the altercation.

Secretary Ariyadasa Cooray said that the committee comprises of three officers. The investigation is being carried out to look into the alleged failure to carry out duties by the police.

A youth was  killed at an event held in Embilipitiya recently, when he fell from a building following a brawl which broke out between the police and another faction.

Investigations into the incident have been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department, following orders from the IGP.
