The Fundamental Rights petitions filed before the Supreme Court today on behalf of Yoshitha Rajapaksa and three others against their arrests and detention.

The FR has named the IGP and FCID officers as respondents. The FR claims that there was no basis for the arrest of the aforementioned and that their fundamental rights have been violated due to the arrest and detention hence seeking the courts intervention for their release.

Five persons including Yoshitha, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, were arrested on Saturday under the money laundering act and remanded in custody on January 30.
