
In a petition, the friends and family have requested Sirisena to intervene and ensure that the law of the nation applies to Ranawaka and ensure justice is meted out to the victim, who is still receiving treatment in the ICU following the accident in Rajagiriya.
They have also requested the victim be sent overseas for medical treatment, as there is no improvement in his health situation following the accident.
Even though on March 9, the Colombo Additional Magistrate ordered the police to record a statement from the Minister, the police is yet to record his statement. The court order was issued following a motion filed by the aggrieved party. The Magistrate has also requested for the minister’s telephone records be submitted to the Court within two weeks.
Ranawaka has denied any involvement in the accident, but eye witnesses claim that the vehicle which knocked Sandeep was driven by Ranawaka.
