
Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga yesterday (12) revealed that the Rajapaksa regime had spent a staggering Rs. 510 million to launch the Norochcholai coal plant even though her government from before had taken measures to initiate the plant at a cost of Rs. 280 million.
Speaking during a press conference convened at the Ministry of Finance yesterday, Ms. Kumaratunga has revealed that the Rajapaksa government had obtained a sum of Rs. 15 billion as a commission from the Norochcholai Power Plant.
She said that she is revealing this as a senior citizen who had been functioning as the President for a decade and as Finance minister for 08 years.
Ms. Kumaratunga, who had attended the press briefing on the invitation of Finance minister Ravi Karunanayake, also had a cordial discussion with ministry officials afterwards.
