Embilipitiya Magistrate Order lights Hope for Justice

Embilipitiya Additional Magistrate Prasanna Fernando ordered the Crimes Investigation Department yesterday to arrest all suspects involved in the case including former Embilipitiya ASP D.W.C. Dharmaratne and former HQI Dinendra Dias in connection the death of Sumith Prasanna Jayawardene in Embilipitiya.

President's Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya and Attorney Vijitha Punchihewa appeared for the aggrieved party.

Many witnesses including victim's wife said the police went on the rampage after party organizers refused to give them alcohol, assaulted the gathering and pushed the victim from the second-floor.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka, Ajith Pathirana claims that arresting the suspects doesn’t grant the justice.

Sumith Prasanna Jayawardene succumbed to his injuries in a clash between Police officers of Embilipitiya Police Station and civilians at a party he has attended on 4th January.
