
Our correspondent said his flight arrived in Katunayake at 8.25pm. Zeid Ra’ad and six others who accompanied him was greeted by officials of the External Affairs Ministry.
During his visit Zeid Ra’ad will have discussions with President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Minister of External Affairs and other heads of the state
"Substantive discussions during the visit will include measures to strengthen, promote and protect human rights, as well as steps being taken to implement the provisions of Resolution 30/1 titled 'Promoting reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka' which was adopted by the Human Rights Council on October 1 with the co-sponsorship of Sri Lanka,” stated a press release by the Ministry of External Affairs.
The High Commissioner will also visit Jaffna, Trincomalee and Kandy during his stay here.
